Taking a trip with the family is a part of American culture. Getting out and seeing all that the country offers can make for lasting memories. And visiting national parks is a pastime that millions of families enjoy.

The question then becomes which national parks are most worth the visit. If you consider heading out onto the road with the family, there are a few national parks worth the trip.

Yosemite National Park

Yosemite is, without a doubt, the most famous national park in the United States, and with good reason. Seeing colorful wildflowers from the Tuolumne Meadows or the rushing rapids from the Merced River are enough to capture the imagination.

But then there is the chance to stand next to the massive 200-foot sequoias that line Mariposa Grove. There are even Junior Ranger programs for the younger kids, allowing them to feel like a true nature guide before the trip is over.

Grand Canyon National Park

If there is a single site worth seeing in the United States, the Grand Canyon is it. Words can’t describe the scene it sets, the mile-deep canyon almost feeling surreal when seen in person. It is the kind of experience that can create lasting memories.

But the canyon is not all that there is to see. With trails like the South Kaibab Trail, Cedar Ridge, and the Bright Angel trail, more than a few hiking opportunities are available. It is the kind of trip that families everywhere should take at least once.

Arches and Canyonlands National Park

While there is something to be said about huge trees and natural greenery, there is a breath-taking beauty to be seen in the drier areas of the country as well. With sandy trails, stone arches, and massive rock formations, you can see natural beauty in Arches and Canyonlands National Park.

The Sand Dune Arch is an easy walk and a great start for families, feeling like a natural sandbox. Other trails like the Delicate Arch Trail are for older kids as the route can be steep and somewhat slippery but features a lot of long lizards who like to frequent the area.
